Non-enclosed vertical platform lifts

Non-enclosed platform lifts require either a safety flap/guard or a barrier to the entry/exit side of the platform. The guard or barrier should be designed to prevent a wheelchair overrunning the edge of the platform and incorporate a locking mechanism that will withstand the impact of a fully laden wheelchair.

Any swing guard or barrier should open outwards, away from the platform.

When the lift is in the lowered position, the safety flap may provide access onto the platform.
