Fraser joins the Minivator team. - Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

Associates at Minivator have successfully raised over £500.00 to sponsor a puppy for the registered charity Canine Partners.  Canine Partners train dogs to help disabled people enjoy greater independence and a better quality of life.  Once a dog is fully trained they are able to help their owners with everyday tasks including paying at a supermarket, getting cash from a cash dispenser and even taking washing from out of the washing machine!

Minivator’s sponsored dog is a chocolate brown Labrador puppy named Fraser.  He was carefully selected by Canine Partners using specially developed aptitude tests, which help to identify potential assistance dogs. Essential qualities in an assistance dog include a gentle, co-operative nature, curiosity, a strong desire to be with people and a steady temperament.

Fraser is currently living with his ‘puppy parents’ and he will stay with them until he is about fourteen months old.  Puppy parents are volunteers who not only care and look after puppies, but they also begin to teach the puppy how to socialise in every environment that they may later work in, for example in supermarkets and busy high streets.

Following this, Fraser will embark upon his advanced training. This lasts for between four and six months, and will involve him attending training classes everyday both at the Canine Partners training centre and also in public environments. Here he will learn to use his initiative and to respond quickly and reliably when he is called upon.

Before Fraser goes to live with his dedicated Canine Partner, he will attend a residential course where he will learn how best to work with his partner.  After this he will be ready to move in with his partner and really start making a difference to their life.

Minivator at NAEP - Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Minivator has just returned from a successful showing at the NAEP conference in Blackpool. The two day conference is an opportunity for manufacturers and suppliers to exhibit alongside the main conference. This year’s event was a sell out and as such the Minivator team were inundated with interest and enquiries from the delegates in attendance.

On the stand this year Minivator showed off their well established and successful Minivator 303 Reclining Bath Lifts alongside their first step into hoisting products with the new addition to their product range; the Minivator 600 Overhead Track Hoist.

The Minivator 600 is an extremely flexible solution to a range of lifting needs.  The hoist enables you to safely move individuals around their home or professional institutions without the risk of carers incurring injuries from lifting.  It is available in four standard models able to safely lift a user of up to 42 stone and it can be used with a variety of different slings to enable transfer to and from a bed, toilet, chair or even a standing position.  The hoist is also available in a portable version which is the ideal solution for multi user situations such as in hospitals, or for private use when an individual cannot afford to instruct tracking systems throughout their homes.

As at Naidex, Minivator held a raffle on the stand and delegates were invited to enter their business cards to be in with a chance of winning the soft toy that was modeling the Minivator 600 Hoist.  The lucky winner was Judy Green from MEDEQUIP Assistive Technology, Derbyshire and she has been invited to choose a children’s charity to donate the cuddly toy to.
