Minivator’s Successful Showing at Naidex. - Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

On the back of their most successful year to date Minivator returned to Naidex at the NEC last week together with not only a new stand but also with exciting new product developments.

Over the last year Minivator have already successfully launched the Simplicity 950 straight stairlift and brought in numerous product updates on the Minivator 1000 and 2000 stairlift range; including the introduction of a new powered hinge, a manual override on powered swivel seats and heavy duty models for both series.  New Product Development Manager Greg Welch said that “Minivator is committed to continually developing our already successful stairlift series to help us to meet as many user needs as possible”

Modern, metallic staircases modelled the complete stairlift range; one of the most impressive on display was the internal bend of the Minivator 2000.  Minivator, who already boasted the tightest internal bend on the market, have not stood still and have continued to develop and improve the helix on their curved stairlift. The Minivator 2000 can now fit staircases up to a maximum helix of 54°. Thereby increasing space in hallways and actually allowing Minivator to install a stairlift where no other stairlift would fit.

Those who rode the Minivator 2000 were treated to not only an extraordinarily smooth ride but also to an extraordinary view of the exhibition hall – almost a bird’s eye view.  Particularly useful to those who wanted to spot the café with the smallest queues for lunch!

Minivator also gave a sneak preview of forthcoming features by showing off their new offset footplate prototype on the stand.  This angled footplate will allow Minivator to fit into even narrower staircases – the minimum clear width required is now only 680mm!! Again, allowing Minivator to fit into staircases that other manufacturers would not be able to.

New Product Development Manager Greg Welch said that “Safety is a key concern in all product developments, and as such all Minivator stairlifts with a powered swivel seat now feature a manual override as standard.” This allows the seat to be manually swivelled out of the way, to avoid blocking the staircase during an emergency, should for any reason the powered swivel function fail.

Demonstrating that they are ahead of their game when it comes to innovation the Minivator Drawing Team showed off their new state of the art electronic surveying system; E Survey on stand.  E Survey is a photogrametic system which will dramatically cut the time and increase the accuracy of all surveys, especially those complicated Round the Corner surveys.  Drawing Supervisor Neil Price said ‘the response E Survey received on the stand was outstanding; we believe that it will soon lead the way in how stairlift surveys are carried out across the world.’

With such a raft of ongoing developments it is no wonder that Minivator won the Best of Black Country Award for Growth and Innovation last November.

Away from Minivator’s core product range new products were débuted on stand for both the Independent Living and Access Solution Divisions.

Last year’s Naidex Product of the Year; the Flexstep; is the latest member of the Minivator Public Access Division. The Minivator 5500 Flexstep was showcased on the stand and drew great interest from healthcare professionals and dealers alike.  The Flexstep is an attractively styled, well thought out step lift suitable for both internal and external situations.

Minivator’s public access products provide solutions to help people meet with the recommendations of the Disabilities Discrimination Act 1995.   Their team of specialist staff offer a total solution from specifying right through to installing product.

Meanwhile Minivator Independent Living Products unveiled their entry into the hoist market. The Minivator 600 is an Overhead Track Hoist which can be used with a selection of slings making it suitable for transfer from bed, toilet, bath, chair or even to a standing position.  It is also available in different models up to a maximum safe lifting weight of 42kg making it a really versatile solution to a wide variety of lifting needs.

Those who visited the show last week would have seen Flopsy the bunny modelling the Minivator 600. They were invited to enter their business cards into a raffle and the lucky winner was Alison Wright.  She has been invited to choose a children’s charity to donate Flopsy to; we are sure Flopsy will be very happy in her new home and that the children there will have lots of fun playing with her.
